Initially, I was very confused by Diigo, but after doing the participation assignments on Diigo, it made more sense to me. I thought the website seemed a bit “outdated” in its appearance, but then I realized it can be very useful for group collaboration, discussion, and resource sharing. So far, I have loved the blogging experience! I think that posting these discussion posts and other information to my Blogger page has been much more interesting than simply posting to canvas! Furthermore, I enjoy how the blog is customizable to your needs and personal styles, and how different widgets can be added. The addition of widgets on the blog is a great touch! During the blogging process I have learned a lot about the layout and format of posts, and also how to make a website look appealing to others. EME SPRING 2022 Hello! My name is Lindsey Kaplan, I'm 21 years old, and I am a junior at Florida State University. I am currently majoring in sociology, and minoring in education. I am from Boca Raton, Florida, which is about a 7-hour drive south of Tallahassee. Copyright and fair use are two very important concepts that apply to education, media (music, film, television), and product creation and innovation. Copyright is what protects online and in-person creations such as art, literature, products, logos, etc. When something is copyrighted, permission must be granted prior to using the creation and credit must be given if one uses the creation. On the other hand, fair use is when others' creations can be used but must be used in addition to one “new work”. Fair use also requires that the creator is not gaining monetary benefit from adding to somebody else's work. While dealing with the concepts in regard to education, teachers and students must be very careful about the sources and media types used in a classroom. For example, if a copyrighted worksheet is online, I must gain permission from the owner before using it in my classroom, or else I would be subject to legal troubles.
